professional me

the switch
I am a former college advisor/counselor, who transitioned UX/UI Product Designer. My career began as an English teacher at West High School (Denver) where I served and advocated for at-risk youth. As a result of teaching, I pursued counseling with the opportunity to learn and perform a wide variety of duties. In this capacity, I developed a true passion for helping and inspiring others in their effort to achieve both professional and personal success. Then, my situation became clear that it was the right time to move on, taking those transferable skills into my next chapter.
the founder
In recognizing the inequities regarding academic opportunities, I created a startup, CyclusBreak (LLC & 501c3) and designed apps to support historically underrepresented students with college knowledge. This informed my pivot into EdTech, broadening my ability to learn and pursue other tech-related career paths.

the why
Product Design / UX appealed to me because it embodies overlapping skills of advising including empathy, discovering behaviors and motivations, needs, all while tailoring a smooth user experience.
the next
Looking forward to participating on a design project and/or team where I can contribute from a place of diverse authenticity offering equity-focused design.
